Mission Statement

The LAS Journal Mission Statement

The Leysin American School Journal of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (LASPPE) is a peer reviewed academic journal for highschool students. The LASPPE aims to promote intellectual excellence, independent reasoning, innovative research, cross-disciplinary insight, and worldwide influence. By publishing student works of philosophy, politics, and economics, the LASPPE attempts to unify academic fields that are normally separated in study. In doing so, the LASPPE aims to produce a scholarly product greater than the sum of any of its individual parts. By adopting this model, the LASPPE attempts to provide new answers to today's most pressing questions.

Five Pillars of the JPPE

1. Interdisciplinary Scholarship: The LAS JPPE values an interdisciplinary academic approach, engaging deeply with the fields of philosophy, politics, and economics. By fostering research that crosses these boundaries, we aim to cultivate comprehensive perspectives that enrich our understanding beyond the limits of any single discipline.

2. Commitment to Diversity: The LAS JPPE champions diversity not only in the submissions we publish but also in the authors we collaborate with and the topics we explore. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment and providing equal opportunities, welcoming contributions and participation from individuals regardless of background, beliefs, or identity.

3.Academic Excellence: To ensure the highest standard of scholarly work, the LAS JPPE employs a rigorous peer-review process. Our goal is to publish submissions that are well-structured, thoroughly researched, and intellectually innovative, offering fresh insights into the complex intersections of philosophy, politics, and economics.

4. Fostering Free Thought and Original Ideas: The LAS JPPE encourages the pursuit of original thinking and the articulation of new arguments. We actively seek essays that challenge conventional ideas and propose unique solutions to contemporary issues, aiming to contribute meaningfully to global discourse.

5. Cultivating Global Leadership: Through interdisciplinary exploration, the LAS JPPE aspires to shape the thought leaders of tomorrow. By critically addressing global challenges through the lenses of philosophy, politics, and economics, we hope to inspire future leaders to think creatively and act decisively in addressing the most pressing issues of our time.
