Submissions

The Leysin American School Journal of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics welcomes submissions from highschool students worldwide. We seek contributions that demonstrate originality, strong argumentation, thorough research, and timely relevance. Acceptable formats include, but are not limited to, research papers, literature reviews, extended essays, interviews, theses, internal assessments, and articles created for coursework or independently. There are no strict page requirements for submissions, as all entries are evaluated based on their academic merit.

The journal is dedicated to promoting accessibility, ensuring that all published content is freely available online without subscription or financial barriers, thereby facilitating open discourse and maintaining academic integrity.

Copyright Information

Authors maintain copyright over their published works while granting the journal a non-exclusive, perpetual license to publish the official version. After publication, authors are free to share or republish their articles elsewhere, provided that the original publication in our journal is cited.

Article Submission Declarations

By submitting a manuscript, authors affirm that:

  • The work represents original thought, distinct from the ideas of others.
  • The article is not substantially similar to any work previously published or currently under consideration by other journals.
  • It meets the standards of academic rigor.
  • All relevant legal obligations, such as copyright and sourcing, have been fulfilled.

Submissions may be rejected by the editorial team if these declarations are found to be false or incomplete. The journal assumes no legal responsibility for authors who do not comply with necessary legal requirements.

Evaluation and Review Process

Submissions are evaluated based on academic relevance, coherence, significance, and scholarly quality, without bias regarding the author's institutional affiliation, nationality, ethnicity, religion, gender, or political beliefs.

All entries undergo a stringent name-blind review process, as outlined below. If the submission showcases originality and creative thinking, it will be considered for publication.

Review and Publishing Workflow
  1. The editorial board conducts an initial review to determine whether a submission merits further consideration. If it does, the piece is sent to the relevant section editors; if not, it is rejected immediately.
  2. Name-blind reviews are performed by multiple student editors across different sections, resulting in a detailed referee report.
  3. Faculty experts conduct additional name-blind reviews.
  4. The editorial board assesses all reports and makes the final publication decision.

Upon acceptance, editors will make necessary clarity and coherence edits, along with verifying any missing information and factual accuracy. Copy editors will finalize stylistic adjustments. The editorial board then organizes accepted pieces into a cohesive journal edition. If a work is accepted but cannot fit into the current issue, it may be held for a future edition.

Final decisions regarding acceptance, rejection, or revision requests rest with the editorial board.
